Ferec Necef
Cello/Piano/Music Theory
Ferec Necef begun his cello studies at an early age with his father and piano studies
with his mother, then succeeded in the conservatory exams and began his professional music education. In 2006, Ferec participated in the 11th International Strings Competition "Rudolf Matz" held in Dubrovnik, Croatia, and was awarded third prize and the special jury award. In 2006, he begun his studies at Bilkent University Faculty of Music and Performing Arts with a full scholarship. He was accepted to the cello class of Azerbaijan State Artist Gara Aliyev.
During his education at Bilkent, he participated in many concerts with the Bilkent Youth
Symphony Orchestra as the principal cellist of this orchestra. Ferec also taught piano, cello, and music theory at Early Music Education, Bilkent University's education program for young students. Ferec performed concerts in Turkey, Germany, Italy, and France as the principal cellist of the National Youth Symphony Orchestra. Ferec was also appointed as the principal cellist of the Eurochestries Festival Orchestra and took part in chamber music concerts as a member of the 'AGSO Quartet' in France.
During Ferec's career, he attended masterclasses of Dobrila Berkovic-Magdalenic, Eve-
Marie Caravassilis, Marcio Carneiro, Umberto Clerici, ÇaÄŸ ErçaÄŸ, Emma Ferrand, Rebecca Gilliver, Alexander Hülshoff, Monika Leskovar, Heidi Litschauer, Massimo Macri, Johannes Moser, Jean-Guihen Queyras, Kyrill Rodin, Alexander Rudin, and Istvan Vardai. Ferec graduated from Bilkent University Faculty of Music and Performing Arts as valedictorian.
In 2011, Ferec was awarded the first prize in the 14th International Edirne Mimar Sinan
Rotary Club Young Musicians Chamber Music Competition. In 2013, he participated and
won the second prize in the cello category of the Ippolitov-Ivanov Music Performers
competition held in Moscow, Russia. Ferec took part as the principal cellist in the
Mediterranean Youth Orchestra held in France in 2014-2015. In 2019, he graduated from his cello post-graduate studies at Anadolu University State Conservatory.
In 2015, Ferec performed concerts at the Aix-en-Provence Music Festival under the
direction of Sir Simon Rattle, within the body of the London Symphony Orchestra. He has been working as a cellist in the EskiÅŸehir Metropolitan Municipality Symphony Orchestra for 11 years and became a Borusan Istanbul Philharmonic Orchestra member in 2016.

At the moment, Ferec is studying his MA in Arts Administration and Cultural Policy: Music Pathway at Goldsmiths University of London, as an EU scholarship holder in arts field.
Apart from being a professional and actively performiing musician, Ferec is also an experienced and passionate piano, cello and music theory teacher who enjoys working with young pupils and adult learners too.
Ferec has been successfully preparing his pupils of all levels of prestigious examinations and various concerts since 2012.
