Here is what Anastasia says about one of her lessons: "During one of my private one-to-one sessions, a student of mine was struggling to grasp the particular rhythm of a Grade 4 piece. Every time he got this section right, but when playing the piece all the way through he would get that same tricky section wrong. This is where I suggested conjuring the tricky place up a specific phrase, something he liked doing. The pupil came up with ‘I like to play football’. I then adapted that phrase to the rhythm of the piece and sang it with him multiple times so he would memorise it. When he played through the piece once more, he got it spot on. This is one of my go-to teaching methods, as it helps the children link their playing to another passion of theirs, building a stronger connection and understanding of the music."
Anastasia is currently in her final year at the University of Contempopary Music and Performance.
During the course of Anastasia's teaching, she has taught grades 1-8, achieving high mark distinctions and merits from all of her students, paying close attention to details in each musical piece as well as providing each student with a solid understanding of improvisation and technique, which has improved their playing considerably.
